I've always loved watching the red wing black birds and enjoy painting them. We live on a small lake and the red wings are attracted to the shallow end as the shore is lined with reeds and cattails. The birds do seem to enjoy the cattails which is fine with me as they also make for a fun and interesting painting subject. I got my photo reference at the perfect time of year as the cattails were busting out and spreading their seed in the breezes. |
